July 2010
This summer sees Blair working on pre-production music for his upcoming feature film scores The Manual and Electric Man. Directed by Darren Fisher, The Manual is a 'Science-Philosophic Romance' filming this autumn. Electric Man, also filming in late 2010, is a live action adventure directed by David Barras, telling the story of a comic book that changes two boys' lives forever.
In the autumn we'll be hosting the first ever Blair Mowat video podcast, or 'vodcast' as those in the know call them. It'll be the first in a series of videos where Blair describes his working process, starting with an in-depth look at his score for feature film #7.
In the meantime here's a sneak peak of the song 'Believe in Her', Blair's collaboration with singer songwriter Ryan O'Reilly for short film Sally & Clive. Stay tuned for his next song written with Rosie Oddie, appearing in the upcoming short film Bleach.
Festival screenings this summer include Half Hearted, which will be appearing in the London International Film Festival and Attack of the Aliens, which is premiering in the New York City International Film Festival.

Blair is currently in India, recording local musicians in Mumbai for his score to feature film No. 7.

January 2010
2010 holds a number of exciting projects for Blair. This March will see Blair travel to Mumbai to record his score for current feature film project No. 7, working with local Indian musicians to capture an authentic sound for the British Bollywood thriller.
Later in the year he'll also start work on the score for feature film Thunderchild, directed by Marc Price. Written for full orchestra, the score will offer a very different sound palette to the Bollywood beats of No. 7.
This month's audio treat is the opening music to Half Hearted which Blair completed recently.
Finally, there'll also be some new sections added to the website later in the year – so watch this space!

November 2009
This month sees several new commissions including scores for Half Hearted directed by Max McGill, When the Bough Breaks directed by Gareth Peevers and Internet Story directed by Adam Butcher.
The Lost Book, which features Blair's music, has been nominated for a Scottish BAFTA Award! (See the full list of nominations).
Blair has been invited to speak at the Soundtrack International Film and Music Festival as part of the panel or a discussion on 'Getting Your Music in Film and TV'. See more details on the event and how to attend.
November also sees the completion of Attack of the Aliens and Hoodie as well as a collaboration with singer-songwriter Ryan O'Reilly creating an Americana-inspired soundtrack for short film Sally and Clive.
In festival news, Blair's music can be head this month in Foxes in the Underground showing at Filmstock and the Salford Film Festival. Hip Hip Hooray has also been included in the official selection for the Falstaff International Film Festival.
October 2009
Blair will be providing the score for the new feature film Thunderchild directed by Marc Price, which is scheduled for production in 2010. Marc's most recent film Colin, the acclaimed £45 zombie feature, filmed from the perspective of one of the infected, is showing in selected UK cinemas from the 23rd of October, with the DVD following shortly after in time for Hallowe'en.
October sees Blair writing an 'Americana' inspired score for Sally and Clive directed by Alan Tang, as well as starting work on the final cut of feature film No. 7 - Welcome to London.
We're also delighted to announce that Blair has been appointed to the committee of PCAM (The Society of Producers and Composers of Applied Music), helping to raise awareness of composers' rights.
September 2009
Catch short films scored by Blair this autumn on the festival circuit. Swipe hits Raindance, Filmstock and Young Cuts, Hip Hip Hooray is screening at the Cambridge, Norwich and West Hollywood Film Festivals, whilst Arcadia, Swipe and Hip Hip Hooray can all be seen at the Portobello Film Festival in London this September.
Amongst ongoing projects Blair is also scoring the short film Hoodie directed by Patrick Finnegan as well as composing the score to Romeo and Juliet from theatre company Love & Madness, directed by Owen Horsley.

This month sees Blair start work on his lush orchestral score for Attack of the Aliens, a sci-fi animation short from Edge Haine Productions.

Blair has been collaborating with the Soho Theatre on an untitled education project to be premiered at the theatre on 1st July.
June 2009
Swipe, for which Blair composed the soundtrack, has been selected for the Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival, as well as being nominated in the Best Newcomer category. The festival takes place between the 22nd and 31st of July.
Blair is preparing to write the score for the upcoming feature film No. 7, a Bollywood thriller directed by Dev Shanmugam. The score will feature a fusion of Western and Indian musical styles.
May 2009
Blair has just finished another commission for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. His music for Episode 4 of The Lost Book can be seen here. The Lost Book and its soundtrack have been produced in conjunction with The City Of Literature festival, Binary Fable and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Education Department.
Also this month, Blair is scoring the short films Stranger and Foxes in the Underground, starring Jonathan Hyde and Neil McCaul.
April 2009
April has seen Blair writing new music for the London transfer of the Edinburgh Festival smash hit The Exquisite Corpse, which runs at the Southwark Playhouse from the 5th to the 30th of May. The play is comprised of 16 scenes in a different order every night (chosen by the audience) with choreographed musical transitions in-between each segment. For this run, Blair has been commissioned to compose a new piece of music for an additional scene which contains no dialogue. After composing the track, the director and performers devised a piece of movement theatre in response to the music. To hear the music for this new scene click here.
March 2009
Blair has just finished writing the score for Episode 2 of The Lost Book, which was recorded using members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. The animation is part of Edinburgh's City of Literature Festival, in conjunction with Bristol and Glasgow, and has been made by the wonderful Helen Jackson and Adam Brewster at Binary Fable. March is the month of the short film for Blair. This month he scores Norway directed by Emile Rafael, Faded directed by Doug French and Stranger directed by Robert Paskin.

Hip Hip Hooray, starring EastEnders actress Kacey Ainsworth, is currently being scored by Blair. Directed by Lynsey Miller and produced by Craig Heathcote, Hip Hip Hooray is due for completion in mid-February.

This year's winner of the Exposures Film Scoring Competition is none other than Blair Mowat. Blair was presented with his prize, alongside his co-winner, at the awards ceremony in Manchester. The award was presented by Shameless actor David Threlfall and creator Paul Abbott.
November 2008
Blair's score for Arcadia appeared recently in this year's Filmstock Film Festival. Both the score and the film were very well received and Arcadia was announced at the end of the festival as the Filmstock Audience Award Winner.
October 2008
Blair has been commissioned to compose music for 2 animation webisodes as part of Edinburgh's City Of Literature Festival in conjunction with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's Education Department. The webisodes will appear in early 2009.
Blair has just finished the score for Waiting Room, directed by Tom Grigg. The film will premiere on 21st October at the Odeon in Covent Garden.
Blair is to provide the musical score for FletcherWilson's new film The Boys. Shot on 35mm and directed by Josh Collier, The Boys is due for completion in mid-November.

Blair has been short listed for one of Channel 4's prestigious 4Talent awards in the 'Production Music' category, placing him in the top 5 young composers for media in the UK. The full shortlist can be viewed here.
Blair's recently finished theatre scores in the last two months include K2's Mary Postgate, Eyestrings' Edward II and True Fiction Theatre's The Exquisite Corpse, which gained much critical acclaim in this year's Edinburgh Festival, scooping up no less than seven 4-star reviews. Blair's music and soundscapes were praised consistently for being 'dynamic', 'inspiring', 'strong' and 'atmospheric'.
